CLARIN Conference 2018: The digitale interview collections take part in the interdisciplinary debate on linguistics and oral history.
At the CLARIN Annual Conference in Pisa, Cord Pagenstecher of Center for Digital Systems (CeDiS) at Freie Universität Berlin on 8 October 2018 talks about "Curating and Analyzing Oral History Collections". This year, the meeting of the European network CLARIN ("Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure") focuses on "multimedia, multimodality, speech". The interview collections at CeDiS with their rich corpora of audiovisual narrative data are accessible through digital research and learning environments. An interdisciplinary cooperation between linguists and oral historian could foster their analysis.
At the CLARIN Workshop "Oral History: Users and their scholarly pracitices in a multidisciplinary world" on 19 - 21 September 2018 in Munich, too, relevant corpora, methods and tools from oral history, qualitative social research and liguistics were presented and discussed, amongst others with interviews of the CeDiS collections.
Already in 2016, the interview collections at CeDis were presented at the CLARIN PLUS Workshop "Exploring Spoken Word Data in Oral History Archives" in Oxford.
